Our Story

Founded in 2013, Our Second Family, Inc. began with two women in Georgia who shared a calling to serve others. As coworkers united by compassion, they became deeply aware of the growing homeless population in the Atlanta area and felt compelled to take action.

What started as a small act of service quickly grew into a meaningful mission. In the early years, the founders prepared and distributed home-cooked hot meals twice a year, serving a minimum of 20 individuals per outreach across the Atlanta community.

As the need increased and relationships were built, Our Second Family expanded its efforts—beginning to serve meals once a month, and at times up to three times per month, to those we lovingly call Our Second Family.

Along the journey, an additional member joined the effort, assisting with meal preparation and helping broaden support services. This expansion allowed the organization to provide not only meals, but also clothing, shoes, blankets, tents, and personal care items, meeting both immediate and essential needs.

The scope of our outreach continues to be guided by the generosity of donors and community partners, whose contributions determine the volume and variety of items distributed at each event.
